| UNDER SLAB APPLICATIONS Slab-Shield™ insulation was designed specifically for use under concrete slabs. We have also designed a thinner version of Slab-Shield for lightweight concrete applications. Both products give you a vapor barrier and significant thermal performance in one user friendly product. The products have a layer of closed cell polyethylene foam applied to both sides of a reflective layer. The closed cell foam is a vapor barrier and protects the aluminum from the chemical reaction that would occur with uncured concrete. Currently the Slab-Shield™ product line consist of 2 thicknesses 3/8 and 1/2 respectively and also comes with a tab feature upon request. 3/8" rolls are 4 x 100 and 1/2" rolls are 4' X 63'. All you need to apply Slab-Shield™ is a razor knife and tape (Tape is necessary for a complete vapor barrier to be achieved). Simply roll the product to the desired length and cut. Compare that to working with 4' x 8' board insulation and you'll soon see the time savings of working with Slab-Shield. Another difference between Slab-Shield™ and the foam boards is its ability to mold itself to the contours of your grade. Slab-Shield™ is flexible enough to adjust to the high and low areas helping to create a stronger finished concrete pour. Slab-Shield™ also does not crack or crumble when faced with the normal abuses the job site throws at it. | |

Armaflex is an expanded closed cell structure that makes an efficient insulation. Armaflex is formaldehyde free, fiber free, dust free, and it also resists mold & mildew. We use Armaflex for the insulating of pex tubing lines from outdoor woodstoves to the home and for insulating domestic water lines as well. We stock several sizes and they all have a 3/4" wall thickness. This insulation needs to be protected if used in direct burial applications. |
